What are Jam Sessions?
Jam Sessions are targeted fluency practice. Jam Sessions are organized by skill sets (e.g., Number Sense, Whole Number Operations, Fraction Concepts). In each skill set, you will find skills for the current grade and skill-based practice above and below the current grade.
How can I view available Jam Sessions?
- Navigate to the “Work” tab.
- Select “Jam Sessions.”
Hover over the “J” icon to see if students have practiced the skill. Click the “J” icon to see examples for the Jam Session.
How can I use Jam Sessions?
Jam Sessions can be used as a class warm-up, or as independent fluency practice when students have completed other work. You can add or remove Jam Sessions at any time. Data will be saved even after deleting a Jam Session.
Consider using Jam Sessions to:
- Add a prerequisite skill for practice leading up to a unit.
- Give a quick warm-up or review to your instruction.
- Provide students with skill-based practice that aligns with Assignments.
- Provide independent practice as homework or classwork.
What is the Jam Session experience like for students?
Students practice fluency skills as they enter answers to questions. Students get ongoing encouragement to keep working, including progress tracking, points, and Jam Pro Badges.
How can I monitor student progress?
Click the “Reports” tab at the top of your home page, then select Jam Sessions.
The default setting is for all students and all Jam Sessions. You can easily filter reports by skill, student, and date range. Student performance on Jam Sessions can be viewed by time spent, number of questions completed, percentage score, or overall class performance.
The Detailed Skill Performance metrics at the bottom of the report allow you to quickly see time spent, number of questions answered, and score for each individual student.
